A Cancelled Video Game You Still Think About… 🎮😢

Featured Replies

I’ve covered gaming for almost two decades now - and seen a ton of in-development projects get scrapped. There are a few I still think about and wish I could have played.

Chief among them: I saw a closed-door developer demo at E3 for Star Wars 1313 - and it looked great. The LucasArts team showed some of that demo footage on SpikeTV. But Uncharted meets Boba Fett is still such a fun concept.

What’s one you still think about and/or think was a mistake to have canned?

A relatively recent development, but I'm still sad the Wonder Woman game got scrapped. Been too long since we've had a good female superhero game, and I was looking forward to that one.

I was crushed that got cancelled. With the studio involved, it could have been great.

I know it's not technically cancelled, but Beyond Good & Evil 2 is the one that I'm saddened by most, since it's likely we'll never actually get it (and there's even more worry that if we do get it, it might not be what we wanted anyway)

Not exactly a cancelled game, but Anthem NEXT being cancelled was a huge bummer. The game had its issues, but the flight suit combat was so fun. My hope was that some combat gameplay/assets from Anthem could make their way into the upcoming Iron Man game from EA and Motive Studio, but with the private equity acquisition looming it seems like most of EA Entertainment's future titles are potentially in limbo (I imagine EA Sports will be left alone for the most part). If Bioware gets shuttered and Mass Effect 5 gets cancelled that will jump to the top of my list.

If I had to pick one fully cancelled game that was disappointing, it would probably be the recent cancellation of Everwild by Microsoft. Rare is one of my all time favorite development shops and to have a game that's been in progress by them for 10+ years just cast aside is...sad.

Anthem did Iron Man suit mechanics better than The Avengers game!

That was indeed quite sad. I second this choice.

But I will forever be devastated that Kojima's Silent Hills will never be made.
