How Much Would You Pay For GTA 6 (Or Your Most Anticipated Game)?

Featured Replies

There has been a lot of debate over whether or not GTA 6 will cost $100. I don't think it will be, just because there are other ways to make that money (special editions, online microtransactions, etc). Regardless, how much would you realistically pay for a game like GTA 6 or maybe your most anticipated game?

Think Half-Life 3, The Elder Scrolls 6, or some other hail marry game. What would you pay for it if the developer announced that it was out tomorrow, but you had to pay a premium to play it?

I'm probably out of touch for this but I don't see $100 as the worst asking price, WITH THE CAVEAT that we would, in theory, be talking about something I'm going to sink probably a thousand hours into.

The other trouble with that steep of a price tag is that I'd be expecting extreme polish and no game-breaking bugs, which is a lot to ask.

I honestly don't think it's out of touch. I personally think going above $70 - $80 is outrageous when so many games gate content behind DLC or microtransactions anyways. Like you said, the game would basically have to be totally perfect and not ask me for more money in order to justify a premium price tag.

Would I pay $100 for GTA 6 if that was my only option? Unfortunately, yes lol, but I would be upset about it!

This is such a good question! I wouldn't pay anything for GTA 6 because I've never gotten into those games, but if we're talking Elder Scrolls 6... I didn't blink an eye at the price of Oblivion Remastered earlier this year, just checked right on out. So I think I'd easily drop $80 for it, though I'd probably start to raise an eyebrow if it got to be more than that. Raise an eyebrow, but still pull out the credit card most likely.

The only game I'd buy at any cost no matter what would be Insomniac's Spider-Man 3. That's my favorite game series. I got back into gaming during COVID, and Spider-Man 2018 was one of the first games I played. I loved it and I'm as invested in that franchise's story as any of the movies.

I mean, when you think about how many games cost $70 up front, then put out paid DLC at around $20-30, a lot of games wind up in that zone eventually. Wouldn't be the worst thing to just include everything at the start and be up front about.

Knowing that I'm going to spend hundreds and hundreds of hours in GTA 6, I think $100 would be a fair price, so long as that means I get access to any extra content that arrives down the line. Also would be nice to start with some extra cash online if that's what the price tag gets me.

I mean, $100 seems reasonable to me. Then again, I'm that person who once camped outside for like 3 days to get a gaming system and two days to get a damn copy of Halo 2 so my idea of "reasonable" might be suspect.

Wow 3 days! That's dedication! It does sound like a fun experience though.

I agree. It's totally worth the price tag when you consider how much you will play it. Countless hours is definitely worth $100 or more. I just don't like buying a game and then having to pay for DLC, but that seems to be the norm these days.

That's the type of game you can spend countless hours in and never really get bored. I love games like that!

Yep! The way I see it is everything is getting so expensive these days we may as well buy things that we can spend hours getting lost in and enjoying.

It was certainly AN experience. Totally worth it.

I was also so much younger and my back could handle that sort of nonsense better than I can now, so.
