What Everyone Is Getting Wrong about the Doomsday Teasers

Part of this can be blamed on how the news was reported from unreliable Twitter scoopers, who said there were four "Trailers" that would be exclusive to movie theaters for the first month of Avatar 3.

What's clear, though, is that these are barely even teaser trailers, but also that Marvel's plan isn't some hubristic assumption that people will show up for all of these. They're building hype, even with the leaks. People have to remember that a major chunk of the audience for movies like this aren't living online and combing over every little detail and rumor, so when they see that Steve Rogers teaser ahead of Avatar, it's brand new information for a lot of folks, not only that Evans is back but that a new Avengers movie is coming out at all.

It's not for us, the online denizens, it's for the normies.

I just hope I get a Doomsday trailer before my Avatar screening tonight. I saw on social media some fans in Europe and South America were complaining they didn't get a teaser.

I can confirm. I have friends in Brazil, and I'm in France. We don't get Doomsday treats.

Oh that's a shame. I got the Steve Rogers teaser as the last trailer last night. I don't think anyone in the theater made an audible reaction. So either the whole crowd had that spoiled already or just didn't care lol

My wife saw the teaser online and just about lost her mind. She enjoys the MCU but really loves Captain America, so this was a huge teaser for her and other fans who aren't as @saperry said, looking over every small detail of the MCU every week

How many teasers are there so far? I’ve only seen two: the Captain America one and the Thor one. They said there were supposed to be four.

Supposedly, the 3rd one is a Doom-focused one and the 4th one is a full teaser, but that's just what I've seen people saying online.

I do think the teasers themselves could just be a bit better. Some of the people in my theater seemed confused by the Rogers one, wondering why he isn't old anymore lmao

Granted, you can't help everyone, but I do think it falls a little flat just in terms of what is presented. A teaser that had a few different heroes together and ended with Rogers may be more exciting. Too many breadcrumbs!

This rollout has also made it clear that honestly, fans (especially ones continually online) don't really know what they want. All I heard for the last 2 years is "we miss Steve Rogers and want him back", and now they get that and I see an absurd number of op-eds about "why this is the worst". Please pick a lane

I think the thing that just confuses me is how people seem to think that these teasers actually do anything for the movie at this point -- normies or chronically MCU online people distinction not needed. The movie doesn't open until December of next year. They're going to make a big deal about not revealing anything or trying not to tell us anything noteworthy until the last possible minute, and random looks at various characters that everyone expected to be there anyway just seems like the least interesting way to drag out anticipation for a movie that a lot of people are already soft on. I don't know what they could be doing, but four little snips of rando characters just doesn't seem like the sort of appetizer you'd want to go with because casuals won't get hype and the die hards have already decided how they feel about the movie one way or the other.

I would have liked it if it was just one teaser modeled after that Dark Knight trailer that didn't show any footage. The one that just had Ledger's voice over the Batman logo. Have Downey recite some evil Doom monologue over the Avengers logo. That would be more exciting to me.
