What comic most disappointed you in 2025?

We often talk about our favorites at the end of the year, but I think it's also valuable to look back at the things that we didn't love as well. What comics were you most disappointed by in 2025?

This is going to be controversial, but, for me, it's ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN.

We were on such a WAVE with that book! And it just FELL OFF in terms of focus, consistency, artwork, pacing, etc.

Don't get me wrong: still one of the best series and concepts Marvel has done in years, but the disappointment is just that the book went from great to just okay.

This isn't even close for me, the X-Men line. You went from a golden era that is Krakoa to a bunch of all over the place books that never felt cohesive. A few of them were interesting, but as a whole, just a major step backwards.

Mane. That is the correct answer, actually. "Back to the Ashes" pls/ty...

I hate to say it, because the single-issue Godzilla/Marvel crossover books were pretty strong, but the larger Godzilla vs. Marvel was kind of a dud for me. Unfortuantely not really looking forward to the 2026 follow-up as a result.

The end of Imperial soured me on the series. The main series just seemed rushed through with non-stop battles, but the ending just fell flat. Black Bolt being the one who was behind framing the Wakandans for murder, Black Panther agreeing to keep it a secret, Shuri explaining that democracy never works in Wakanda, and Star-Lord and Nova ending their bromance (this was the worst thing that happened out of it).

I get they wanted to reboot the cosmic side and undo everything they had done since Annihilation Wave, but this just never felt like it worked in the end.

Funnily enough, I hated Krakoa AND I hate the current X-Men situation, too. I'm grumpy.

It's always hard to be disappointed by 'Zilla, but I agree.

This is a good one too, major disappointment with Hickman at the helm.

My disappointment for comics this year is Marvel, besides a few books everything else felt very disjointed and not cohesive, hopefully Marvel can get their house in order in 2026

Can't argue with that at all, and 2026 is already looking up!

One Piece... after the rush of the Wano Country Arc ... it has been in a cycle of mediocrity for months. Hopefully it will pick up this year as it heads into its wind down.

I had to thing really hard for this one. I keep a pretty thorough pull list at my local comic shop so I know what I'm getting monthly, but I always grab a ton of other titles to try new things and sometimes I get a dud. Looking through my stacks, I would have to say X-Men didn't really do much for me. I love the green Gambit foil cover and display it often, but I really haven't gotten into the storyline as much as I thought I would. I was a huge X-Men fan back in the 90s and I really hope they make a strong comeback. Maybe I need to read more of the recent X-Men titles, but I just wasn't very impressed with the ones I grabbed.

X-Men really disappointed me as a whole comics-wise. Between X-Men '97 (the show) and the X-Men rollout in Marvel Rivals and even the teases for Doomsday, feel like the characters are clicking everywhere but the comics right now, which I wouldn't have expected.
