June 15Jun 15 Thanks to a new Avengers: Doomsday leak (from an upcoming LEGO set, not a grainy barely believable video filmed on a potato), it seems there could potentially be a Female Doom in Doomsday (as long as the set is actually FOR Doomsday). The logic of Doom variants does make sense - we know there's multiple universes and if Doom is recruiting, who better for an egomaniac to hire than himself in different forms? Here's the details on the rumor.Would you like to see Doom taking over from Kang a little more directly and having his own squadron of different Dooms?
June 15Jun 15 I've not read it myself, but my understanding from others of the comics leading up to Secret Wars is that he has a lot of servants who dress like Doom, more as a way to honor Doom and confuse enemies than as multiversal variants. Couldn't that be all this is?Of course, there is also precedent for multiversal variants in Loki, including a female Loki. So could see this going either way.I absolutely hope ComicBook.com is wrong that Tony Stark and Doom are not variants in some way (or that there's some other interesting in-universe explanation for them looking the same, whether cloning, or something). Otherwise, is it just supposed to be a wild "coincidence" that Stark and Doom look alike? That would be terrible. I could live with it, but I'd be very disappointed.
June 15Jun 15 CB Team Doom variants makes sense, but I hope they're not famous people specifically cast for the surprise, you know? Just let them be other people behind a mask and not a stand in who will be...i don't know, voiced by Stanley Tucci in post.
June 15Jun 15 CB Team The only thing that makes me question the "army of Dooms" theory is Doom's ego. Would he really want a room full of equally intelligent versions of himself, or would he recruit variants he believes are beneath him and easier to control? A council of Dooms sounds like something Doom would create, but also something he'd immediately start plotting against.
June 16Jun 16 CB Team It would definitely be amusing if Marvel just... ripped their Kang plans and plopped them on Doom lol. That said, I can picture Doom demanding servants dress like him out of pure ego!
June 17Jun 17 Yeah, count me in the "no variants, please" camp. The variants are part of the problem with the latest phases. Undermines the stakes of any one character's arc. And it's super gimmicky. Only place it worked for me was Loki.
June 17Jun 17 CB Team Didn't they get rid of Kang to avoid this? It should just be a Doom who has the ability to multiply himself as one of his god powers or something haha.
