How Did Bendis Fumble the Bag with the Legion of Super-Heroes?

Featured Replies

I've been writing a lot about the Legion of Super-Heroes, and I'm reminded how much of a flop Bendis' Legion became.

In fairness, I can't say I read the run extremely thoroughly, but it does feel like Bendis kind of messed up the Legion in a way that made them damaged goods again.

I don't know, I'm curious if there are any defenders of this run around here, and curious what people think where DC plans to take the Legion next.

I'm more surprised Waid or Williamson haven't picked up the Legion since the destruction Bendis left behind. Waid by far know the team super well especially with his Superman knowledge in A.C. right now. Williamson has the legion of Darkseid which will probably change back to the OG legion. Plus throwing Connor Hawke on there in Green Arrow just felt like a tease at the idea from Williamson. That's just my two cents.

To be clear, Bendis is one of my all-time favorite writers, which is why I felt his run at DC could have been so much better. I was fine with his Legion run, but I'm also not the biggest Legion fan, so I'm not coming at it with a lot of experience.

Frankly I always thought he would have delivered an amazing Justice League Dark run if given the chance. His penchant for humor even in the darkest of circumstances, would have fit that series so well.

As a long time Legion fan, never read the Bendis storyline. I had a complete collection of the legion in Adventure comics and Superboy. I would love to see them rebooted.
