Do you think it's about light and darkness being equal and held in balance? Or do you think it's about the defeat of the dark? Or... something else?

It was a strange show. I could see a lot of the potential, but I felt like the flashbacks really killed the momentum. Just... didn't quite work for me.

Personally, for me, the big strike was the budget, which was just too much to be justifiable given viewership. But it IS such a shame the story is so badly unfinished.

Only the post-credits really lol. Nothing else multiversal to it!

Tbh I'd have done something different; used 4 to introduce a new status quo centered around Spider-Girl. Alas...

I kind of pin the blame for the nostalgia buzz on two franchises; Star Wars (TFA in particular) and Stranger Things for '80s nostalgia. Imo they set a pattern for popular culture in focusing purely on nostalgia. I think nostalgia works as part of a dish. It's when the project becomes pure nostalgia that there's a problem.

OK, this animation looks AMAZING! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oonACDq89BY

Oh YEAH. This looks GOOD. I genuinely whooped at "I have the power!"

We spend so much time critiquing, but what film do you think was the best in the MCU's Multiverse Saga?

I'm wondering if they'll perhaps continue with something like Superman with Supergirl; each movie directly setting up the next introduction.

HOW did I not think of the "Superman's Harem" connection LOL?

And thanks for saying how to load the islands, incidentally, I wouldn't have had a clue!

Oooh, I'll check this out, may get me into D&D!

I think it's probably soon, but I doubt it'll be SuperBowl tbh - feels like Sony will leave that to Doomsday.

Yeah, definitely! Oddly, I would love it if we had a sort of co-star situation; Buffy to appeal to those adults in the room, Nova to Gen Z. Buffy's always been perfect for a generational saga imo.

Yeah, that was Iger. I'm... more positive than I was a few weeks ago, because I feel like I've got to grips with the direction Filoni and Brennan are taking (although I am getting irritated at how Brennan is being sidelined; I understand she's not running the creative direction, but it sits uncomfortably with me). The Kennedy quote that she started succession planning two years ago finally makes sense of why plans changed in such a massive way in early 2024, so I think I get it now.

No, I think it's fine; we're 12 months away from release, so tbh I think they're marketing it pretty aggressively!

Yeah, looks ok :) I admit, from the press release, I'd expected an action shot somehow lol

The first episodes release today, and our reviews is out! https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/the-newest-star-trek-series-just-arrived-and-its-unlike-anything-else-in-the-franchise/ But are you planning to watch it? And if so, what do you think of it?

Well said. This felt like more than an appeal to nostalgia. I also really enjoyed seeing Namor and Shuri.

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and X-Men '97 for me. I'll be more excited about Lanterns when I've seen more.

It feels like RTD is heading out after the next Christmas special. So who do you think should take over?

Yeah, it IS quite sad to see. Feels like a show that was greenlit and then Marvel didn't feel confident of.

Yeah, I'm sold on the Harvey reports too tbh.

Oh, that is totally happening. In about 30 years' time, under a different director, if it's not adapted into a TV show :P
