Anyone else think that the Krakoa era of X-men is one of their worst?
I absolutely hated the Krakoa Era. HATED IT. Hated it so much that I haven't really gone back.

Can legacy sci-fi ever be rebooted correctly?
I personally would LOVE some new things. I mean, after all, we're already living in the future that a lot of older sci-fi imagined. I'd be wildly interested in seeing what new things we could imagine.

Can legacy sci-fi ever be rebooted correctly?
One could probably make the argument that any new series within a franchise would "reboot" the overall franchise in the most basic sense of the term (as in bring new life to it after years of dormancy) but I completely understand what Gero means.

Who Is Watching The Vampire Lestat?
The Vampire Lestat (aka season 3 of Interview With the Vampire) debuts tonight on AMC. Who is watching? I am definitely tuning in and I'm excited to see what they do with the story. I have my concerns and reservations -- I notably think AMC is making a great show overall but also don't think that it's a good adaptation of Rice's novels -- but I also just can't wait to FINALLY see Rockstar Lestat.

Taylor Swift x Toy Story
I am now revising my previous statement having seen several TikTok edits of the song with Jessie and now I can't hear it without sobbing. The movie is going to kill me when we get to this song but I am so ready to hurt.

Which Marvel villains do you think the MCU wasted?

Can legacy sci-fi ever be rebooted correctly?
Yeah I think this might be the correct answer.

Anyone picking up Liam Sharp's Starhenge Book 2?
100000% Starhenge book 1 challenged me in ways I didn't know my brain could be challenged.

Taylor Swift x Toy Story
So. the song is out. I didn't weep. I really like it! But I'm not emotionally wrecked.

Disclosure Day Hype Check
I feel obligated to be hyped for it because it's set in Kansas City and we're required by law to be excited about movies set in Kansas City (I live here).

Can legacy sci-fi ever be rebooted correctly?
Honestly? I want new things before getting reboots and continuations. I love the franchises and IP I grew up with, but I also love that they sort of naturally resolve (or should) and allow me to sort of run with my own imagination. Having something new to explore would be a chance to find a new favorite to be excited about instead of feeling like I have to fight for a place in a fandom. I’m sad for all the Stargate fans. But I hope we eventually get something completely new and different for a fresh IP so we can keep our love for the old while also moving on.

Can legacy sci-fi ever be rebooted correctly?
My topic title here is a little weird, so let me explain: Amazon cancelled the Stargate reboot reportedly because they didn't feel like it would appeal to new fans. Obviously you want new fan appeal. However, the point of rebooting what I consider to be legacy sci-fi (like coming up with something new in Star Wars or Star Trek or even this Stargate thing) is to also appeal to existing fans. This got me to thinking about whether it is actually POSSIBLE to do a reboot correctly or in a way that works both for the business side of things and the fan/creative side of things. What is the balance? Obviously anything new would need to have grown and changed but can existing fans accept change? What's the balance? What's the line?

Taylor Swift x Toy Story
Considering that Pixar anything wrecks me and I have never been able to get through a Taylor Swift album without weeping I am SO READY TO BE EMOTIONALLY DESTROYED. I also bought all three of the cd singles without even flinching. Bring on the trauma.

What tv show did COVID ruin for you?
Now that we're 6 years on, I sometimes think about the shows we lost because of the pandemic -- and I personally will never get over losing Stumptown. What shows, in retrospect, did covid ruin for you?

Will Streets of Rage be worth the decade-long wait?
We finally (FINALLY) got a Streets of Rage movie update after first hearing "hey, there's gonna be a movie" back in 2016. But 10 years is a long time for forward motion and so I must ask: will the movie be worth the wait -- assuming that we don't end up with more waiting?

What are your unpopular MCU opinions?
Oh no, I think Endgame is a fine spectacle. Just not a good movie and while I will never claim to NOT try to start crap, this is one opinion where I'm actually not trying to start a fight. :)
-
What are your unpopular MCU opinions?
Oh god I have so many. Here are the ones that usually get me yelled at. Endgame sucks. RDJ was great in Iron Man but quickly turned everything he did into caricature (except Iron Man 3, somehow) to the point that watching him annoys the hell out of me now. You can never convince me that the MCU was ever meant to be interconnected the way it is. They had to do a lot of retroactive attaching of things and it shows. Eternals is a good movie, damnit.

What are your unpopular MCU opinions?
This is the correct take.

Batman's most important mentor?
I wouldn't really consider him a mentor but he's certainly an influence.

Mando and Grogu Box Office - What Happened?
Everyone acts like a third place box office finish one week means a movie was a disaster and that just boggles my mind. We've turned into a movie culture that cares more about the box office receipt result than the films themselves. Backrooms did well because there is a lot of unique buzz around it -- very young director comes out the gate swinging makes for a lot of virality and curiosity. It's the same sort of concept when people online in the beauty space start buzzing about a random lip balm and suddenly, you can't find it in stock anywhere for about 3 weeks. Obsession has been a grower as people realize that it's a really good movie (albeit one that I think has a troubling sort of concept). Mando even before it hit theaters had people screaming it was going to fail and you say something loud enough enough times, it has an impact. There's also the general understanding that it's just going to and on D+ in very short order which, personally is why I didn't see it in theaters. I've got a whole list of other movies I want to spend my money on. Knowing Mando will stream soon enough made it less of a priority in an economy where gas is creeping up on $6 a gallon.

Which MCU villain do you want to return the most?
How dare you call my girl Wanda a villain.

Which Marvel villains do you think the MCU wasted?
I generally just don't care for Marvel villains broadly, but I will quite honestly never forgive them for not doing more with Red Skull or at least doing right by him. He could have been a solid franchise baddie.

Disclosure Day "Red Bird" Activation -- How Do We Feel About These Things?
I think it would be insane in the best way if they just like, picked a random small town once in awhile.

Disclosure Day "Red Bird" Activation -- How Do We Feel About These Things?
I was honestly very surprised KC got anything. We actually have a lot of movie-related industry things here but get ignored. Granted, they did it at the place with the worst possible parking in a time when the city is an absolute hot mess because of World Cup prep but...

Who should the Ninja Turtles collab with next?
I feel like it's a collab that would just print money, honestly.
