How do you decide when to stick with a series or drop it?

With so much stuff coming out all the time, I’ve been thinking about how people decide whether to stick with a series or move on.

Do you usually give something a few issues or episodes to find its footing, or do you go with your gut and drop it once it stops clicking? Curious how everyone else handles it.

I will generally keep reading something until it makes me mad enough to throw it across the room.

Since not all books hit that point with me, I've endured some very long runs that I probably should have just quit.

I like to give things a decent shot. Sometimes it can take shows or books or movies a bit of time to really find their footing and hit the ground running, so sticking around can be worth it, but generally if there isn't anything that hooks me within those first few episodes I just gotta stop.

I find I often don't formally make the decision to abandon a series, whether it's TV, books, or gaming. I just tend to drift away if it stops interesting me, then look back and realize I never finished x or y series.

Same! I'm a bit of a completionist and will try to push through even if I start to lose interest, but sometimes I just accidentally abandon it.

I do the same. I've read books and comics that started off rough, but eventually grew into something great after a few issues and others that I thought were going to amazing and just weren't worth the time.

For shows I tend to at least give something 2 episodes to grab my interest. For comics I'll give it a few issues if the first book hook is really good. I rarely abandon things after one episode or issue, but it has happened.
