Anyone else see the new Spielberg, and what'd you think?

For me, it really worked. I liked the larger theme of empathy being the advanced emotion that the aliens recognized, which felt timely given the hellworld we live in.

I really enjoyed it too. Spielberg's my favorite director, so new sci-fi from him is like catnip for me. Performances were great. The themes were powerful. And you still get some of that classic Spielberg spectacle (the car chase, the part with the train).

I really did like that it was a movie ass movie, but nothing tangible happened when you really dig into it. So it's best to just think of it on summer blockbuster terms and just enjoy it in the moment

I can't explain it but this feels like a metaphor for life.
