  1. I was thinking about the old Wolverine game today and how impressive the healing factor mechanics were for the time. Watching Logan take damage and then heal in real time never got old. It's been a long time since we've had a major Wolverine game, and I'm curious to see what they do with the character on modern hardware. Is anyone here planning to pick it up when it releases? And if you played the older Wolverine game, what do you hope they bring back?

I wasn't sure about the movie either at first, but I have some hope that it will be good after seeing the cast. I just hope they keep the effects grounded like the first trilogy.

I agree! I think she will be amazing in this role!

Oh wow! She's going to do great in that role! I'm towards the very end of reading the first Lord of the Rings book and I'm loving every second of it! Obviously, I've seen all the movies, but the books go into way more depth and now I see where this particular story will be coming from because it's mentioned in the books.
  5. The only thing that makes me question the "army of Dooms" theory is Doom's ego. Would he really want a room full of equally intelligent versions of himself, or would he recruit variants he believes are beneath him and easier to control? A council of Dooms sounds like something Doom would create, but also something he'd immediately start plotting against.
  6. Here's an example. I'm reading Lord of the Rings right now, and most of the characters sound exactly like they do in the movies. I can hear Aragorn, Gandalf, and Gimli perfectly. For some reason, though, Boromir sounds completely different in my head. He has a much deeper, rougher voice than he does in the films, and I have no idea where my brain came up with it. He literally talks like a diesel engine... That's what made me start wondering how everyone else experiences characters when they read.
  7. This might be a strange question, but when you read a book, comic, or graphic novel, do the characters have distinct voices in your head, or do they all more or less sound the same? I've noticed that when I read, most characters end up with their own voice, accent, or way of speaking, and I honestly have no idea where those voices come from. Sometimes they're completely different from how the character is portrayed in a movie or TV adaptation. How does it work for you?
  8. Honestly, I haven't watched any of them and don't plan to, but I never thought we needed them. I feel it's just a way to mess with the IPs in ways people hadn't really imagined until now. I think a lot of it is just for shock value. However, I haven't seen any so I guess I can't really judge.
  9. It seems like every major comic book death eventually gets reversed. A character dies, everyone talks about it for a few months, and then they're back with a new costume, a clone, a multiverse variant, or some other explanation. Has that made it harder for you to get invested in death stories, or do you think the occasional resurrection is just part of comics? What's one character return that you thought was handled well, and one that should have stayed permanent?
  10. I honestly haven't been much of a fan of X-Men books in a while. I loved them in the 90's, but haven't been able to get into the new books.
  11. I'm afraid it won't make it, but I'll definitely give it a shot if it does.
  12. Agreed. I would settle for just reading the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit yearly and not have more movies.
  13. I agree, they could have done 1 Hobbit movie and not made it into a trilogy. I honestly can't remember anything about the Hobbit movies. I think it should have been like the books, 3 Lord of the Rings movies and 1 Hobbit movie.
  14. I would say they missed opportunities with Kang. They could have at least recast him, but I know that may have also caused issues. MODOK comes to mind as another one. I also think they could have done more with Gorr, however, I don't really know much about the character.
  15. We need more Hulks! I'm all for it. I've missed the Savage Hulk version of the character. If they're bringing Grey Hulk into the mix too, even better. The MCU has barely scratched the surface of Hulk's different personalities.
  16. I feel the same. I LOVE Lord of the Rings movies, but wasn't too thrilled with the Hobbit trilogy. I worry the movies will just keep getting worse, but I'm like you, I hope they prove me wrong.
  17. Also, dare I say, TMNT + Lord of the Rings! Just imagine Raphael and Gimli arguing over who gets the most kills, Leo and Aragorn comparing leadership notes, Donatello and Legolas discussing strategy, and Mikey disappearing into the Shire with Merry and Pippin. I'd read that crossover in a heartbeat.
  18. Between new movies, TV shows, and projects like The Hunt for Gollum, it seems like Hollywood isn't done with Middle-earth anytime soon. There is still a lot of material from Tolkien's writings that could be adapted, including entire stories and ages of Middle-earth that have never been explored on screen. Do you think they should keep making Middle-earth movies and TV series, or is there a point where it's better to leave Tolkien's world alone? If they do continue, what story or character would you most like to see adapted?
  19. Oh he definitely fits that category.
  20. I think Tom Holland's Spider-Man still has some gas in the tank and would love for him to stick around while also introducing Miles and Spider-Gwen. We could get the best of both worlds.
  21. What’s everyone’s favorite way to read comics these days? Single issues, collected editions, omnibus hardcovers, digital apps, manga volumes, graphic novels, old back issues from the dollar bins… there are so many different ways to experience them now. I’m probably about 70/30 physical and digital these days. I still love physical media, but it’s hard to beat how easy it is to bring a tablet almost anywhere. That said, graphic novels are still really easy to travel with too. What does everyone else prefer?
  22. I still think it’s a great series, but it does kind of feel like we may be approaching the natural end of it. Oddly enough, the new movie almost seems aware of that too with the whole toys vs. technology angle. Kids today grow up with tablets, phones, and games almost immediately, and a lot of physical toys end up getting left behind once electronics enter the picture. In a weird way, that feels symbolic of Toy Story itself. My kids stopped playing with toys about a year ago and mostly play games and use electronics now. I still catch myself wanting to grab them toys when I see something cool, before remembering that phase has kind of passed. Maybe that’s why this one feels more emotional to me than just “another sequel.” The scene where Andy goes to college and the toys are watching him drive away from the porch still gets me to this day!
  23. 50/50 is still pretty good! I think it's safe to say that we all buy way more books than we read, but that's also part of the fun of collecting! I have bought so many comics because they had a cool cover and never read them, but now I try to stick to titles I know I'll eventually read, but I now have books all over the place 😂 Kindle definitely is a game changer.
  24. I was looking through my books and comics today and started wondering how many I’ve actually read cover to cover. I realized I have way more books sitting on my shelves that I’ve never cracked open than I thought. I even found an entire box of Batman graphic novels I haven’t touched yet. My goal now is to start working my way through them instead of constantly adding more to the pile. If you had to guess, what percentage of your collection have you actually read?
