Predicting the Biggest Film of 2026

Featured Replies

What do you think will be the film of the year in 2026? Weirdly, I think this year's barely had a theatrical release lol; KPop Demon Hunters, an unlikely contender for the crown!

I'm really intrigued by Masters Of The Universe and how that turns out, and from early reports, I'm really optimistic. Supergirl is also way up on my hype meter, and honestly, if it tracks with previous films, Toy Story 5 is probably going to be in the discussion for best of the year as well.

Definitely agree with Toy Story 5. That entire franchise is solid and appeals to pretty much everyone. It's also releasing during summer blockbuster season, which will definitely help.

June alone is stacked with Supergirl, Masters of the Universe, Scary Movie 6 and Toy Story 5 beyond that in 2026 we have Scream 7, Mortal Kombat 2 and Mandolorian and Grogu, Spider-Man Brand New Day and Street Fighter which drops on my 40th birthday October 16th

I'm also curious about Master of the Universe... But if we think "biggest" in terms of box office, it will either be The Odyssey or Spider-Man. I hope Avengers: Doomsday fares well and the MCU gets back on track, but I'm not holding my breath.

I completely forgot about Scary Movie 6! I don't think it will be the biggest movie of the year, but it's definitely going to be a pretty major release after such 13 year break and with Anna Faris and Regina Hall returning.

2026 as a whole is just setting up to be a really good year for movie fans!

I'm also hyped for Street Fighter. It's either going to be awesome or so bad it's still awesome haha

And we got Cody, Roman and NJPW star Hirooki Goto in the movie

Supergirl and masters of the universe Are easily my favorites for next year.

Kara has been on a bit of a roll lately.

She was in the flash, she had a successful television series. I’m hearing good things about her recent book.

As for Adam, I really think 26’ is going to be his year. He’s poised for a huge comeback and is going to kill it.

Honestly, predicting the biggest film of 2026 is tough, studios keep shifting dates and this past year barely had any real theatrical heavy hitters. That’s why I think 2026 might end up being the year of a wildcard, the movie nobody expects but suddenly takes over the entire conversation. But if I had to choose one title that seems most likely to dominate, my bet is on The Batman Part II. The hype is already huge, the first one was a cultural moment, and superhero fatigue doesn’t hit nearly as hard when the movie is actually good. So yeah, 2026 is wide open… but I wouldn’t be surprised if The Batman Part II ends up wearing the crown.

I think this could be a big one as well. People will go see it even if they didn't like the first one as much as they expected to.

I agree with Supergirl and Masters of the Universe. I think people will go see He-Man purely due to nostalgia, but will end up loving it if it turns out half as good as we all hope.

For me, I think the top performers will likely be Spider-Man: Brand New Day and I'm tempted by thinking Moana has a shot of being a hit. That said, Disney's marketing indicates they really, really want Doomsday to be the hit.

Yeah, live-action Moana is probably going to do big business at the box office too

I don't think it'll be the biggest of 2026 overall, but Dune 3 is going to be huge. Should end up bringing in the most money of any of the major 2027 Oscar noms I would imagine.

This assumes that it will actually release in 2026, though. Cannot see it and Doomsday releasing on the same day, which is what's currently the plan.

I like how no one has mentioned Doomsday as a serious option LOL it will obviously be huge, but it's hard to say whether it will hit Endgame levels given MCU hype has died down so much. I think the first trailer will give us some indication on whether it will have a chance to blow us all away or not. They may have to lean into showing some of the OGs like Tobey Maguire, Hugh Jackman, etc to really sell people.

I agree with others saying Toy Story 5, Dune 3, and The Odyssey. I am super excited for Spider-Man and it will no doubt do gangbusters, but I don't know if it will reach the box office heights of No Way Home without the legacy heroes and villains.
