If You Had to Start Collecting Something Now, What Would It Be?

We often talk about what people currently collect or what cool things they actively have, but every collection starts somehwere, right?

If you were to start collecting something right now (and let's just say that you have a reasonable budget -- not unlimited, but not pennies, either) what would you start collecting and why?

I think that I would probably start collecting screen-worn costumes from movies and television shows I particularly enjoy. I tend to like fashion and design and I think that would be a pretty neat little nerdy thing to collect (and you can often find very cool things online.)

I love the idea of screen-worn costumes and props! I always wished I could have gotten a small item from each movie I worked on, but they wouldn't let us take anything, even when the movie was wrapped. I always watch the auctions online, but most of them get expensive fast!

I think I’d go with something historical, like fossils or artifacts tied to different places. It would be cool to build a collection with pieces from different states or regions and actually learn the story behind each one instead of just collecting for the sake of it. We travel to different states a lot and it would be cool to have something tangible that represents where we’ve been.

One of my prized possessions is something gifted to me by a friend that came from a television set that has movie ties (I'm being vague on purpose). I still feel incredibly lucky to have it and it's such a cool thing to every so often look at and get a little giggle knowing where it's been when everyone else just thinks it is a regular thing.

I'd love to start collecting Pokemon cards more intentionally if I had the budget. I buy and rip packs, but I'd love to have a binder of every card featuring favorites like Psyduck, Umbreon, etc. Alas, that's beyond my budget for now.

I would have collected statues. While I have a few, I opted to go more towards action figures and smaller collectibles like Pops and minis as opposed to full-sized statues.

Now it's to the point where I can't really justify the price or the space in all but the rarest of circumstances, but if I had built that collection up earlier, it probably wouldn't be that big a deal now.

My newest endeavor is growing my manga collection! I've been lucky with finding them at used book stores lately, so I'm making sure to grab the bigger ones I've always wanted but couldn't afford before.

I love buying used books as well! I haven't tried manga, but always scoop up a handful of graphic novels half price when I go to bookstores.

Since I already collect virtually everything ( comics, cards, figures, statues, fossils, rocks) maybe some of those newer star wars silver bars/coins
