How Much of a Completionist Are You?

When playing a game, do you try to do everything or are you more selective about the optional stuff?

I've never been a full-blown completionist, but when I'm playing an open world game, I will seek out as many side quests as I can. I like getting the extra bits of story and character stuff since that can flesh out the world. But I stop short of trying to collect like every piece of lore or little collectible. I've never bothered to hunt down all the ravens in God of War, for instance. I don't care about getting all the trophies. I have like two Platinums lol.

However, when I play a platformer, my mindset changes. I won't move on to the next level until I 100% and get everything. I think that's because platformers are built around collecting things, so I feel like I'm selling myself short if I don't go for max completion.

Depends on the game for me. The Last of Us titles are ones I love playing so i've platinumed those, same with like Mario games looking for all the collectibles, but its nost something I'm after with every title.

Honestly, I'm not a completionist at all when it comes to games. I generally just do basic things and have fun, but I may change my mind if I played something more engaging. My son, on the other hand, grabs every single gold coin even if I'm dying in the game and he won't come help me until he's grabbed every stitch of loot 😂

I tend to get distracted with side quests and optional objectives during a lengthier game, though that's part of what makes playing those games fun. Franchises like The Witcher, Assassin's Creed, and Final Fantasy are known for their rich sidequests, and I will make constant detours on my way to a main mission as a result. I don't really seek out trophies though, and if a sidequest is more hassle than it's worth, I'll just move on to the next thing.

I love doing 100%, but I also value my time. For instance, I did all the missions in Donkey Kong Bananza. I did NOT grab the maximum amount of bananas possible because the last few dozen are just farming currency to buy more bananas... That's dumb. I don't want to spend hours farming for something that doesn't give me anything in return beyond a bigger number.

Probably pandemic legacy season 2, we kept getting crushed over and over again, but as we progressed, it became more and more satisfying
