  1. I have been noticing little geek things in this year's Olympics -- between some of the American figure skaters being big manga fans to just some of the little references to geek things in routines, outfits, mentioned in interviews, etc. What has been your favorite geek mention/moment from this year's winter Olympics?
  2. I am weirdly good at tracking down hard to find series so I have yet to run into trouble. I think I might just be very lucky.
  3. Yes, it does. Here's the thing: people in Gotham are going to die because of crime-related things even if Batman did kill. If anything, Batman killing might make things worse for the people of Gotham as it could have the effect of ratcheting up the violence we see from Batman's enemies. The idea some people have that Batman is somehow the only thing protecting Gotham in any form is always the thing that just confuses me -- and this carries over to how Batman stories are frequently written. We know canonically that the GCPD is corrupt, but we also canonically know that not all law enforcement in the city is bad and that Batman is NOT the only hero/vigilante. Also, if you know why Batman has the no kill in comics (hint: editorial mandate because boy howdy some of those earlier stories were rough) then it REALLY makes sense because otherwise Batman is just an ass.
  4. I love it and I want more. This was so good. The world needs more Muppets.
  5. Depends on the cover! I am a sucker for good art.
  6. I was gifted DC Universe Infinite last year, but found I really only used it for reference not for regular reading. I'm still a hard copy person.
  7. Someone my family knew growing up delivered comics to shops and newsstands so every week they'd bring over a box of whatever came out that week. Hard not to get hooked when you had a wealth of 80s and 90s books at your disposal.
  8. I more or less forgot this project was happening. I also have to be honest, I'm not sure it's something I'm going to be into, but I am curious to see what they do with it.
  9. I just really hope we get the character back again in some capacity. A second season would be great, but I'm not picky.
  10. I tend to agree. Tim Burton is just "okay" as far as I'm concerned, though he has some movies that I definitely enjoy.
  11. I agree! There's no point in watching if all the spots are released days or weeks ahead of time. It's no longer fun and it certainly can't be helpful for ratings in terms of getting people to watch the Super Bowl who might not otherwise -- there are plenty of people who casually have the game on JUST for ads and trailers!
  12. I was thinking about this tonight while accidentally ending up down a rabbit hole about a particular filmmaker and wondered what "iconic" filmmakers do you think are overrated and why?
  13. Their Superman Celebration each year is actually a TON of fun!
  14. Probably Conduit seeing as how he's from Smallville and is a villain for Superman.
  15. I've said for awhile that the thing that is strangling the MCU is the whole "everything needs to be connected" of it all. Wonder Man felt connected, but also entirely its own and that's what really made it work, I think.
  16. I never got into anything Game of Thrones. I worked in a bookstore for awhile and EVERYONE was super into the books (this was before the tv show) and I read the first one and thought it was trash. I think I watched maybe one actual episode of the tv show and didn't think it was any better. I just don't get why it's so popular.
  17. But also, fun fact, if we think of the Central City and Keystone being the two sides of KC, then The Flash is from here too.
  18. I'm in Kansas so you KNOW it's Superman. ...and arguably I live reasonably close to where Smallville would actually be so that's fun, too.
  19. Every so often I am reminded of my nerdy blind spots when people talk about shows/tv/franchises that are popular or that they are into and I just never got into for whatever reason. What are some that you "missed out" on -- and do you ever plan on finding a way to jump on board?
  20. Batman - Bruce Wayne: Murderer? I feel like it is a deeply underrated Batman story.
  21. I watched Seinfeld religiously. I genuinely do not know why now in retrospect.
  22. FLASH FORWARD. Also, for the love of god give me more Mindhunter.
  23. I remain angry that Acolyte was cancelled. Seriously unhappy. The show had so much potential and was deeply interseting.
  24. Gonna be honest, I won't be able to focus on the trailers this year because my Seahawks are playing!
