What Movie Sequel Disappointed You The Most?

It feels sometimes like it’s almost cliche to say that sequels aren’t as good as the first movie, but in many cases that’s true. What movie sequel disappointed you the most?

One that comes to mind for me is Speed 2. I really like Speed. Then Speed 2 was just so bad.

There are probably a lot of these I'm forgetting but when thinking about direct sequels the first thing that come to mind is Pacific Rim: Uprising. Such a wet fart of a follow up to a genuinely amazing movie.

Since I've been thinking about it a lot lately due to the TV Show, IT: Chapter 2.

Obviously it stinks that they had to make an entire movie out of the half of the story that is no one's favorite, but they also made it quite poorly. It's The Phantom Menace of Stephen King movies, all the hype in the world leading up to it, and it failed on so many levels.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was a major letdown for me. It started out really strong, but once it left the island, it embraced all the worst parts of the franchise.

I hated The Rise of Skywalker as the final installment in the Skywalker Saga. Such a disappointing way to end one of the ultimate cinematic franchises ☹️

I didn't hate RoS but I will also never forgive them for RoS.

Matrix Revolutions ... Matrix was a game-changer... but was watered down with Matrix Reloaded and absolutely hit rock bottom with Revolutions.

While I actually enjoyed Wonder Woman 1984, it was still disappointing compared to just how much of a classic the first one is.

Just rewatched this the other day back-to-back with IT, and I'd have to agree. The first movie set a super high standard, and Chapter 2 didn't even come close to living up to it.

I will never get over how Marvel did Captain Marvel dirty with the "sequel" movie that was The Marvels. Just completely ditched the story set up at the end of the original movie for a team-up film that seemed almost intentionally designed to fail so they had an excuse to stop making Captain Marvel movies.

I also still routinely think about how bad Spider-Man 3 (from the OG Tobey trilogy) was. Every few years I watch it again to see if it's actually as bad as I remember, and it's somehow always worse... even if Bully Maguire is one of my favorite memes.
