  1. That should have been the first trailer! At the very least, they should have released that in conjunction with the Super Bowl spot. It felt like a real trailer. I have a much better understanding of the story and the stakes now. Not just the basic plot, but also the emotional arc of Mando trying to prepare Grogu for when he's not gonna be around anymore. I'm excited for an exploration of the criminal underworld and seeing all these different creatures on screen. Maybe it's just because I'm in the middle of doing a Mando rewatch and just finished Season 2, so I'm on a bit of a Mando high, but the trailer got me properly excited.
  2. I think it might work if they come up with a legit reason/explanation for why it had to be RDJ playing Doom. Like maybe if that rumor about him posing as a Tony Stark variant to earn the trust of the other heroes pans out, this could be kinda cool. If it was up to me, I would have cast a different actor in the part. The RDJ comeback reeks of "we know we've sucked the last couple of years. Please get excited again." But I'm trying to have an open mind. Once we see him in a trailer we might have a better idea of how this is going to work
  3. What did everyone think of what was shown at last night's State of Play event? The big things for me were the Kena sequel, the John Wick game, and the God of War Greek trilogy remake. I'm very excited to finally get a chance to play the Greek saga. Just sucks we have to wait a while before it comes out. I wonder why they didn't have this ready to go last year for the 20th anniversary? The Kena sequel looks stunning. I think it's cool they partnered with PlayStation to expand the scale and scope. You can really feel the difference from the first game. I'm on the fence about the God of War spinoff game that got shadow dropped. I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of 2D (ironic, coming from a '90s baby who had a Sega Genesis). I've played a handful of 2D games and I just prefer 3D, so I don't know if I'll pick that one up yet.
  4. Yeah, Segel would be cool. Bring back Walter too. I didn't see him on the special.
  5. It wasn't really on my radar coming into the year, but after seeing the trailer, I'll check it out. Looks fun.
  6. I think black and white because it feels more authentic to the concept.
  7. If Disney decided to green light a full series order of The Muppet Show and put you in charge of putting together the guest star list, who would be the first celebs you call? I have been saying for years the easiest thing they could do is get Hugh Jackman to dance and sing on stage with Muppets. How that hasn't happened yet is beyond me.
  8. I really wish we had gotten a Swedish Chef sketch. That was the biggest thing missing imo.
  9. I wish Margot Robbie could be the DCU's Harley Quinn. What perfect casting.
  10. I'm planning a busy week of theater trips to see Send Help, Crime 101, and Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die. Haven't been to the movies since Marty Supreme the day after Christmas, so excited to see stuff on the big screen again!
  11. The TV spot would have been fine if it ended with a "Full trailer online now!" title card like the Minions spot. The fact that that was the only thing they released is bizarre.
  12. I thought it was fine. We just got four Doomsday teasers and the movie's not out until December. They have plenty of time to market it. With Brand New Day, they seem to be following the No Way Home marketing playbook. First No Way Home trailer didn't come out until four months before release day. I'd expect something in March. And then we get a new look at Doomsday in May with Mando and Grogu.
  13. My favorite bit from Fellowship is probably Frodo saving Sam from drowning at the end and the "I made a promise, Mr. Frodo" exchange. The action and set pieces are legendary in these films, but the character stuff is what really makes them work.
  14. That was genuinely one of the worst movie-related Super Bowl commercials I've ever seen. I can't believe Disney spent millions of dollars for ... that. There wasn't even a "watch the full trailer now!" title card at the end. What the hell is this marketing campaign. The movie comes out in 3 months. They just blew a golden opportunity to get people excited.
  15. Adventures of Cliff Booth probably got me the most excited. I was not expecting that so when it started and it clicked in my brain what it was, I was like "OH!" I felt like the Leo pointing meme lol
  16. In terms of action set pieces, Battle of Helm's Deep probably takes it. That blew my mind seeing it in theaters as a kid. Aragorn's speech at the Black Gate in ROTK is great too. This is the smaller character moment that first comes to mind: "Never thought I'd die fighting side by side with an elf." "What about side by side with a friend?" "Aye. I can do that." Makes me tear up every time.
  17. Yeah, Kermit's voice sounded weird to me too. I'll probably get somewhat used to it if they keep making new episodes.
  18. I've been waiting a long time to see anything for Cory Barlog's new game. I'd love to see some kind of announcement teaser.
  19. What did everyone think of the Muppet Show special on Disney+? I enjoyed it. Thought they did a good job capturing the spirit of the original. I wish it had been a bit longer to get a couple more sketches in, but it was fun. I'd like to see Disney bring it back as a series. That seems like the most obvious thing and it hasn't happened yet.
  20. Most rewatched movie of all time would have to be the original Star Wars trilogy. Saw New Hope for the first time when I was 6, got the special edition trilogy box set when I was 7, and those movies were on a loop.
  21. An "iconic" director I've never been into is Tim Burton. I've watched a handful of his films and they just don't do it for me. I can't put my finger on why, I've just never been a fan. I think this has more to do with the fact I went to high school with a bunch of Tim Burton superfans and every time we watched a movie in class before a holiday break it was Edward Scissorhands. I just got sick of it. It was fine the first time but I never understood the obsession they had with that movie. I love Ed Wood though. That's the only Burton film on my shelf.
  22. If I was in charge of the marketing budget, I would ask why are we spending a gazillion dollars for a Super Bowl spot when we're going to post it on YouTube for free days in advance. I have never understood this. It has bothered me for years. I make a point to not watch any of the Super Bowl ads before the game.
  23. Bond is a good one. I'm in the same boat. I was into the Craig era for sure, but outside of that I've only watched a few Connerys and Die Another Day. There are so many Bond movies I haven't watched. Stoked for Villeneuve's Bond movie.
  24. The only Star Trek I've ever really engaged with is the Kelvin Timeline. Never had much interest beyond that. My grandpa is a huge Trekkie and I'm pretty sure he showed me some of the TOS movies around the time I got into Star Wars, and it never really took. Lord of the Rings was a defining part of my childhood, so I'm pretty sure I would enjoy Game of Thrones if I ever decided to watch it, but I never have. I've always been more of a movies person than TV. I see the number of seasons and episodes and just tap out lol.
  25. I really hope September isn't a dumping ground because Resident Evil and Clayface come out this September
