Why do you think Cyclops is crying in the Avengers: Doomsday teaser?

I agree, this is the best teaser so far. Also, it seems obvious that Scott is mourning Jean. I wonder how this will fit with the rest of the movie. Doomsday seems to have so many moving parts that I don't know how they'll manage to fit everything together.

I wish this was the first teaser that was released. I would have liked to have seen this one on a big screen ahead of Avatar instead of Chris Evans looking at a baby.

I also think Cyclops' reaction has something to do with Jean's death. Doom probably invades the X-Men's universe and kills a bunch of them.

My developing theory is that universes are colliding in incursions. Doom has begun destroying worlds to prevent incursions, and targets the X-Men timeline at this point.

That makes sense. But I wonder if the movie will be able to actually give emotional stakes for everyone, or if we'll just be bombarded with superheroes non-stop.

THAT is the real danger; with such a massive cast, will we actually care or just have nonstop spectacle?

Yeah, that moment really stood out to me too. Cyclops losing his composure like that feels less like shock and more like someone who already knows how bad things have gotten.

Jean being missing definitely feels intentional, whether that means she’s gone or they’re saving something big for later. Either way, it adds to that end-of-the-world vibe.

I’m with you though, it’s probably the strongest teaser so far just based on tone alone.

All these teasers and the working theory about Doomsday are closely knit with children around. So, my guess is apart from Jean Grey, Cyclops is crying because Doom has taken the baby Cable away.

OOOOH I love this theory!

The X-Men we know are in the movie are Beast, Gambit, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Mystique, Magneto, and Professor X, so I wonder if this is a full team massacre that happened, along with the all the kids in the school.

I feel like I’m looking at a flip on that X-Men ‘97 ep.

There are too many sentinels around cyclops for my liking.

I also have concerns with any sort of robot, armor, or AI being that has to go up against Doom, a guy known for mastering and controlling robotics.

I have theories that Doctor Doom is collecting superpowered kids. He might already have Franklin. The first teaser showed Cap's kid, whom Doom might have been after. Thor's shows Love, who Doom might be after. Scott going nuts might be because in that world, he and Jean had Rachel, and Doom took her. This could have Rachel as one of the new X-Men members as well when the reboot happens.

I think Doom is coming for all the kids because he needs their combined powers to make Battleworld (kind of like a version of the Krakoa Seven).

I think Cyclops is crying in the Avengers: Doomsday teaser because he’s carrying the weight of a massive loss or a brutal decision he had to make as a leader. It doesn’t feel like weakness at all, more like the pain of knowing what’s coming and not being able to stop it. Whether it’s losing the X-Men, Jean Grey, or sacrificing something personal to save everyone else, the moment makes the stakes feel very real. Also, the suit is absolutely on point, it really sells him as the serious, tragic leader he’s always meant to be.
