Is Anyone Still Hyped (Keyword: HYPED) for The Batman Part 2???

On Today's ComicBook Nation Podcast, we discussed the updates on The Batman 2 that were released this week. Funny enough, the chat seemed split in terms of enthusiasm: A lot more people than we expected were apathetic about the sequel.

Has it been too long?

Has the DCU eaten up the Hype?

Let us know your thoughts: What storyline/villains do you want to see in The Batman sequel?

Honestly? I'm not really that interested in Part 2 anymore. I definitely think that it has been too long (so much so that I feel like I have to go back and watch the first one and I don't want the "homework" aspect of thing) but more than that, I just feel like the general vibe of DC is going in a different direction now. I'll probably still see it, but it won't be a priority for me.

First movie is one of my all-time favorite CBMs, so I will wait as long as they want for the sequel.

As far as villains, Court of Owls definitely could be cool, but I think Deathstroke might be the one based on Matt Reeves' comments.

I'm all for it to see different villains in a separate continuity. It's been maybe one year too long on the time difference but I'm still excited. For villains I hope we get Pyg but please no Hush

I'm still as hyped as ever for the sequel, and I bet more people will be too once it gets closer to releasing. I'm really hoping we see either the Court of Owls or someone like Professor Pyg, although a great niche pick could be Gentleman Ghost. But what I desperately want is for them to introduce Robin. Please, please bring in the Boy Wonder and let us see him grow alongside Bruce

The first movie didn't quite hit for me, so I'm not too stoked about the sequel. That said, the portrayal of The Riddler was a standout in that movie, so I am curious to see who the villain will be in The Batman 2. Depending on the choice, it might pull me to theaters after all.

Five years is a pretty hefty gap between films, but at the end of the day it’s better to have something well-prepared that took a while to cook than something that was rushed and doesn’t taste right. Plus The Penguin was there to help people scratch their Matt Reeves Batman itch

I am excited to see where it goes. When they mentioned the villain was connected to Bruce Wayne, I thought about Hush, but I think that Court of Owls might be the better story and could be really exciting. I also don't feel the wait will be that big of a deal. The first movie seemed like a nice self-contained story so the second shouldn't need too much of a connection.

I still think Matt Reeves' The Batman movies have a place, but they need to find a way to stand out. Making Hush the villain in the sequel would be my choice, since he's yet to be done in a live-action movie.

I love The Batman and The Penguin, so I am still excited for the sequel. Would prefer if we didn't have to wait 5 years between movies, but I'd rather Reeves take his time to make something great instead of rushing it. Hopefully the third movie doesn't take as long to come together.

I also think Hush will be the villain. That would be in line with exploring Bruce's past like Reeves teased.

My hype has definitely fallen off. I’m still excited, but it’s hard to sustain genuine hype for 3 years (almost 6 by the time it actually releases).

I think my hype will return once we start getting casting info and first set photos to make this movie actually finally feel real. I was hoping for a Freeze movie with an iced over flooded Gotham, but the various tidbits we’ve heard about this still being a mystery (still cool!) seem to suggest that won’t be the case.

I’d still love to see Court of Owls, but may feel mildly redundant after Riddler’s story in the last one. I trust Reeves to find a a great villain and I hope the mystery aspect is a bit stronger after spending so much time developing this movie.

Not remotely. I'll probably watch it - on streaming, but I feel it's been too long since the first instalment and knowing it's not going to tie into the DCU at all I just don't see a point to it really.

It's pretty much just allowing Reeves to tell his vision, and we know from past experiences with numerous other directors, that doesn't always pan out.

This seems to be a lower budget of what Cameron is doing with Avatar; a film for the sake of it.

I think Reeves now has a very unique chance to tell a bold story using the Court of Owls. A mystery-political-thriller about the Court moving in the shadows to rebuild Gotham in their image, and censor/eliminate those who would go against their agenda using politics, media, and of course, Talons (who would just be well-trained assassins, not mummies). It would challenge not only Batman but Bruce Wayne, who would have to make morality calls about his own wealth and influence and whether it should serve the elite or the people. Have it end by going international and revealing the Court was beholden to a foreign organization run by a maniacal figure from the Middle Eastern region... Ra's al Ghul.

This totally fictional scenario would tantalize fans and mature moviegoers alike.
