November 29, 2025Nov 29 CB Team Would you have preferred seeing one episode a week of the new season of Stranger Things? Or did you enjoy binging 4 episodes at once and now having to wait a whole month to see more?I would have definitely preferred a one a week release, especially with the length of these episodes. one a week gives you more time to theorize and think about the single episode you just watched, and a week is just enough time to keep interest and anticipation going for the whole season. Plus, that 4+ hours of content was a lot to consume in one single night, and since I work in social media, taking a break and staying off the internet wasn't really an option for me if i wanted to avoid spoilers. 🫠do you think you'll still be excited to watch the next volume when it comes out next month or is the break a little too long?
November 29, 2025Nov 29 I overall prefer the weekly releases because they get people talking more and discussing what is happening. With the big drops, people binge it and talk about the entire thing at once, and then it's over with. I do like that they are doing it in three drops, close together, though. At least that is a compromise.
November 29, 2025Nov 29 CB Team I don't watch Stranger Things so I cannot be specific about this season or the show, but in general I prefer weekly drops for ANY release. There is something community building about letting something play out over time that I genuinely miss about teleivison.
November 29, 2025Nov 29 CB Team Probably weekly releases to prevent spoilers. I usually don't have time to watch multiple episodes at the same time and have to avoid reading too much about the current season.
November 29, 2025Nov 29 CB Team I'm enjoying this approach, but yeah... I think weekly release would've been far better. That said, I do suspect they're perhaps gambling on some clues and setup being missed because we're all focused on the set-pieces.
November 30, 2025Nov 30 CB Team I would have preferred weekly releases. I've only watched the first two episodes so far. There's other stuff to do, other stuff to watch. It'd just be easier to fit it in if it was just one episode per week. I fell behind on Pluribus because I'm trying to prioritize Stranger Things when I can.

I want to engage with media on my own terms, not feel pressured to binge-watch everything as fast as I can (I know, I'm in the wrong business 😄). However, I guess that's also why Netflix prefers a binging approach, as their TV shows and movies have that nasty "second screen content" mandate, and with weekly episodes, it would be easier for everyone to notice how flawed they are.
December 1, 2025Dec 1 CB Team I'm always going to be for weekly releases in part because the binge model makes everyone think they have to watch it all in one go. TV wasn't made for this!

I’m kind of not looking forward to the Christmas Day drop to have to do it all again

December 1, 2025Dec 1 CB Team I definitely would have preferred weekly. The binge model puts too much pressure on the viewer to watch all of the episodes as soon as possible, and I think that takes a lot of the fun out of the weekly release model where you can really sit with an episode and think about it. I just think weekly releases leads to a lot more build up for the next episode and an overall better experience as a viewer.
December 3, 2025Dec 3 CB Team I'm very much an advocate for the batch model. I want to engage with it on my own terms, and if it's all there, I can choose when and how I want to interact with it. If someone doesn't want to watch it all at once, they simply don't have to, and for us who do, we can. Best of both worlds, but that's just me. Almost every other show does weekly releases, so I'm fine with Netflix sticking to their batch way of releases.
December 3, 2025Dec 3 I prefer weekly almost always with any title. But I'll take the batches over a full season binge drop any day.
December 3, 2025Dec 3 Weekly > Batch > All At OnceI love to theory craft and speculate and talk with friends about mystery box shows. Watching LOST week to week was so fun (while it lasted). I'd have loved to have that weekly water cooler convo about Stranger Things season 5.Batch is still better than all at once but... these holiday-adjacent releases are actually pretty annoying for this season. I'd love to see the finale in a theater but... pretty unrealistic that a lot of fans will be able to see it New Year's Eve.

I was the only one in my high school class with the cable where it aired. I remember recording the episode on a VHS that would move from classmate to classmate all over the week, and we would always discuss the clues and Easter eggs. As seasons went by, episodes became more broadly available, but since they arrived with a week's delay in Brazil, those of us who knew English would work on subtitles in the middle of the night to distribute to other people... I still dislike the final seasons of LOST, but I'll never have another TV experience like that.
December 3, 2025Dec 3 Weekly. Can't give up the whole day over the holidays to sit in front of the TV.

Like, I have places to be and things to do over the holidays. I may be able to squeeze in an episode at the end of the day, but I won't actually have the time to watch the full episode drop until a bit after they release.

It was impossible to figure out.
December 10, 2025Dec 10 CB Team Part of me agrees with the weekly release, but also it's not like the episodes have been strong enough on their own to sustain a weekly release. Those shows are successful because there's enough to chew on and talk about until the next week comes around, but Stranger Things S5 is clearly built around a few select set pieces in select episodes that are meant to keep the conversation growing. This is kind of the happy medium because at least it's not making us wait a year between each half unlike shows like Squid Game.
